Alex Wilkins - 2nd Runner-Up
1.If you could make one rule that everyone in the world had to follow, what would it be?
My nickname is ‘Little Bear Cub’, so “Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book is my favorite song to dance and sing to. It’s an uplifting song highlighting the importance of appreciating what we have in life, rather than what we want. In high school I suffered from a life-threatening illness and learned that all I need in life is God, my family and friends, because they are my true sources of happiness.
2.If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Considering I am a shoe addict, I love shopping online at Just Fab. I am a VIP member, which enables me to get any pair of shoes at a discounted price. Not to mention, every few months I can get 5 pairs of shoes for less than $10 because of my member perks! Unfortunately, college dorm rooms don’t make it very easy to store all my shoes.
3.When do you feel a child or teen becomes an adult?
The summer before my freshman year of high school, my mom won a BMW, but took the cash prize instead. We used some of the money to go to Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas and got to swim with dolphins, feed sharks and ride water slides any time we wanted. My dad and I went down the tallest slide at the resort that goes underground through a tunnel surrounded by sharks!
4.What do you feel you have learned in life that will be the most useful?
I have been skiing ever since I was 3 and it is my absolute favorite sport! Skiing is an adrenaline rush for me; flying down the face of the mountain, dodging rocks and trees, just trying not to fall. After a long day on the slopes, there is nothing better than enjoying the serenity of a gorgeous mountain range, with the contrasting elements of the oversized trees and sparkling snow.
